Advanced Framing: Less Materials, Less Labor, More Efficient
Advanced wall framing practices and details were developed in the early 70's to reduce material and labor costs without reducing wall strength. Now Advanced Framing techniques embrace floor, wall and roof framing practices, and are promoted to improve energy efficiency. Learn simple field-applied details that are easy to incorporate and code compliant.
Air Leakage Testing / Blower Door and Air Sealing Strategies
All new homes in RI must be tested for air leakage (blower door test) before CO. Learn when the test can be done, how it's done, how to prepare for it, and what the test result means. Find out the two primary approaches to create an air control boundary and sealing approaches for each location.
Frost-Protected Shallow Foundations
There's no need to install foundation footings below frost line. Frost-Protected Shallow Foundations only 12 in. below grade are permitted by the International Residential Code and in RI. Learn how to the system works and what the advantages are.
